Thomas has been engaging in interdisciplinary research crossing over computer science, medicine and health care for over two decades. He was educated in the disciplines of applied physics, electronic engineering (optoelectronics) and computer science (medical virtual reality). He is a governor of the HL7 Hong Kong Limited and the director of the TechCosmos Limited. Thomas was formerly a full professor at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the director of the Centre for Smart Health. His current research interest is predictive healthcare analytics with artificial intelligence.
